The Maryland State Student Member of the Board (SMOB) Advisory Council provides students from across the state with the opportunity to advise the State SMOB, elevate student perspectives, and collaborate on statewide education initiatives.<\/p>\n

Maryland Leadership Workshops<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

Sign up to become a delegate for a summer of transformative youth leadership development. Sessions run from July 12 to 17 and July 19 to 24.<\/p>\n

Strong Schools Maryland Student Ambassador Program<\/strong><\/a><\/h4>\n

Student ambassadors advocate for fully funded, equitable public schools in Maryland.<\/p>\n

Maryland Youth Advisory Council<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

MASC can appoint 2 students to the Maryland Youth Advisory Council (MYAC) every year. Applicants must be 14 years old by September 1.<\/p>\n

Like many organizations, a lot of work for MASC is done through committees. This allows for wider input from students.<\/p>\n

In-state bound seniors may be eligible for legislative scholarships through the Maryland General Assembly.<\/p>\n

Previously the Prudential Spirit of Community Awards. This award opens in September.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This award recognizes young people, ages 14\u201318, for their inspiring commitment to change. Those selected may qualify for up to $15,000 in awards, an all-expenses-paid trip with their parent or guardian to Prudential headquarters in Newark, New Jersey, and coaching and skills development to help take their initiative to the next level.<\/em><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

NASSP\u2019s new Student Service Grant program empowers student leaders to design and lead meaningful service projects in their communities. Grants of $200\u2013$1,000 will support youth-led initiatives that address real community needs. With $215,000 in total funding available this year, it\u2019s a great opportunity for middle and high school students to make a lasting impact.<\/td>\n

\"\"<\/a>National Association of Student Councils (NASC) Scholarship<\/h4>\n

Opens in mid-September; deadline 3:00 p.m. December 1.<\/p>\n

A high school junior or senior who is a current officer of their school\u2019s student council, which must have an active affiliation with NASC.<\/td>\n

\"\"<\/a>The United States Youth Senate Program<\/a><\/h3>\n

Two students from each state will be selected to attend this program in our Nation’s capital (all transportation, hotel, and meal expenses provided). In addition, each delegate will also be awarded a $10,000 college scholarship for undergraduate studies, with encouragement to pursue coursework in history and political science. Applications open in September and close in early October.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/td>\n
