The Maryland Association of Student Councils (MASC) is a statewide organization representing the student governments and councils of middle and high schools across Maryland. Since 1950, MASC has fostered student leadership development, amplified student voices, promoted advocacy, and created opportunities for collaboration among student leaders throughout the state.
As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, MASC relies on the generosity of donors and sponsors to support its mission and provide meaningful leadership experiences for Maryland students. Contributions are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law. MASC retains complete discretion and control over the use of donated funds, although donors may designate a preferred purpose for their contributions.

Leadership Development – Throughout the year, MASC hosts conferences and forums across Maryland that bring student leaders together to learn, collaborate, and grow. Students participate in workshops designed by students, for students; exchange ideas through round-table discussions; hear from engaging guest speakers; and interact with panels of legislators and other professionals. MASC also offers a comprehensive Student Workshop Presenter Certification Program that empowers students to develop their presentation skills, share their knowledge, and lead workshops for their peers. The program continues to grow each year, expanding opportunities for students to learn from and inspire one another.

Student Advocacy – MASC advocates for student rights and amplifies student voices by engaging with the Maryland General Assembly, the Maryland State Board of Education, and other organizations on issues that affect students and young people across the state.

Promote Communication – MASC connects student leaders across Maryland through a statewide network that encourages the exchange of ideas, collaborative problem-solving, and meaningful dialogue. Through these connections, students come together as a General Assembly to discuss important issues and establish positions that reflect student perspectives and priorities.
